A PARTIAL CATCH_U"P

I found an article called "Books aren't dead---theyre just going Digital" in the Nov. 26, 2007 issue of NEWSWEEK a very good read. I'd automatically thought that books in any form except hard bound, and paper backs would never interest me, a heavy reader, but read the article. See what you think, and let's discuss it----Have some joy today, Marian

You will chuckle at this--I read a brief synopsis about books going digital ON LINE!
Actually, since I got a computer and figured out how to use it, I've read online--whenever I have the time. I don't read books much anymore, only articles--and they are very diverse! I can research things I would never research if I had to put down a book and go look something up in the library--you just click and put in your search and viola! There is the information.
I'm excited to learn about the new Kindle! Sounds terrific and interactive!

1I expect that books as we know them will go away one day. Watching Star Trek one sees books treated with great reverence as artifacts of a distant past. It will be interesting to see what happens as we move from paper to electrons. This computer is of course a step in that direction. When I can take it to the front porch and read it without eye strain I expect well...

This was the first article about reading anyway other than books that I had read, and I liked it Actually, I suppose that I've read more off the computer screen than I realize, and I accept that without fussing. Well, how much of a change will Kindles make in our lifetime in libraries, publishing business, etc? Wonder!
